Barbara Did It First?

1. Barbara Kruger Untitled (You Can't Drag Your Money Into The Grave With You), 1990
2. Raf Simons Spring/Summer 2012

I might have to accept the fact that it is no longer about 'Who Did It First' or 'Oops I Did It Again'. Appropriation is an art form, so why should we except fashion from it? The new question being posed now should rather be 'Why Does It Exist Again'? And 'What does it add to the Now'?

A Short History Of The Comic Strip In Popular Culture VIII

1. Walter van Beirendonck Spring/Summer 2012
2. Erwin Wurm Fat Car, 2001

The moving comic sculpture. Walter van Beirendonck and Erwin Wurm almost made me cry. Together, they presented walking absurdity during the Spring/Summer 2012 menswear finale. A collection that could easily be entitled 'POW, BOOM, BANG'. Worth shedding a happy tear.

4. Raf Simons Spring/Summer 2012
5. Jil Sander Fall/Winter 2013 & Raf Simons Spring/Summer 2012

The Raf Sander universe is a hermeneutic one. Ruled by specific genetic conditions that determinate the final outcome, the outer shell. Like mother, like son. And since yesterday, our mother is called Jil Simons.

Belated Regrets, Again

Ann Demeulemeester Spring/Summer 2012

How practical to fall in love with a look when the season is irrevocably over. Now that access is limited, the restrictive luxury of mindgames and archive indulgence becomes a masochistic attempt.

Interlude II

For their recent campaign and ongoing 'Manmade' exhibition project, Wooyoungmi collaborated with painter Song Lee. Yesterday's 2013 collection took inspiration from an artwork again which resulted in sequined platform shoes, rose prints and appealingly skinny suits. From Paris with love.

2. Jil Sander Spring/Summer 2006
3. Jil Sander Spring/Summer 2006, Raf Simons Spring/Summer 2012 & Jil Sander Spring/Summer 2006
4. Jil Sander Spring/Summer 2006, Raf Simons Spring/Summer 2012 & Jil Sander Spring/Summer 2006
5. Jil Sander Spring/Summer 2006 & Raf Simons Spring/Summer 2012
6. Raf Simons Spring/Summer 2012 & Jil Sander Spring/Summer 2006

The Raf Sander universe is a hermeneutic one. In Spring/Summer 2012 he refined the clash of disrupted checks and tropical florals. Carefully remaking his first attempt for Jil Sander in 2006. Tonight, he will be presenting his Spring/Summer 2013 collection. Another logical adjustment on the journey from boy to man?
