Long time desired, never acquired. It won't even be possible, ever. What would a contemporary equivalent be? A Sarah Lucas doll ('Nud') or distorted body with gun ('AKA Peace')? Or just some John McCracken sculpural nothingness ('Nine Planks IV')?

Prada's Fall/Winter 2013 inhabitants are twisted bodies à la Francis Bacon. Dropped shoulders, twisted collars. Hanging down, letting loose. Layers of fabric, misplaced, distorted luxury. A motif that calls back the tablecloth pattern which interweaves the whole collection. The tablecloth as symbol of the commonplace, the rustic and homey, often accompanied by Dirndl shapes. Why? The ordinary is used as 'distortion' technique within Prada's multi-million luxury context.

When two portrait series become one. The provocative, self-revealing depiction of nudity. Disarming every critic as there is nothing left to be exposed or taken away, the artist deletes the possibility of any scandal. Possibly, this is his most powerful creation.
